Harrington Industrial Plastics of Chino, Calif., has acquired plastic plumbing products distributor Commercial Industrial Supply (CIS) in partnership with the latter's owner, Ron Heisler.

Harrington said it was in part attracted to CIS, based in Rock Hill, S.C., because of the strong online presence CIS established that has allowed it to exceed the overall market's growth.

"The acquisition will help accelerate Harrington's own e-commerce and online lead-generation capabilities," Harrington said in an Aug. 1 news release. "CIS serves heavy industrial contractors, individual contractors, OEMs and end users such as military, industrial plants, labs and universities."

Harrington distributes plastic products including pumps, pipe systems, tanks, tubing and hose, filtration and instrumentation for corrosive and high-purity applications. Harrington is part of Nautic Partners LLC, a middle-market private equity firm that focuses on industrials, health care and services.

Nautic, based in Providence, R.I., manages assets of more than $2 billion. Its portfolio includes compounder Aurora Plastics LLC of Streetsboro, Ohio, and through Harrington, Aetna Plastics of Valley View, Ohio, a fabricator and distributor of industrial and plumbing products.
